Mithali Raj mentions that 160-odds are not good totals every day. The batswomen needed to go for the bigger hits. They did not accelerate the way they wanted to, and the run rate went unnoticed.
Suzie Bates lauds her teammates, and emphasised on the continuous shift of momentum throughout the match.

Live cricket score: New Zealand Women 164/7 | Overs 44.2 | Win by 3 wickets with 34 balls to spare
Suzie Bates 1(12) Rachel Priest 21(28) Amy Satterthwaite 23(55) Maddie Green 0(1) Sophie Devine 33(62) Katie Perkins 30(44) Leigh Kasperek 17*(35) Kate Broadmore 1(7) Anna Peterson 23*(22) Jhulan Goswami 10-3-14-2 Shikha Pandey 5-0-28-0 Ekta Bisht 9-1-31-2 Sneh Rana 5-0-35-0 Rajeshwari Gaekwad 9.2-0-33-2 Harmanpreet Kaur 6-0-22-0
Rajeshwari bowls an excellent over, managing to hit Leigh’s inside edge and beating her outside edge. They manage a single apiece. Just four needed now. Ekta replaces Sneh, and they run another single to fine-leg, three needed. Leigh punches it past extra-cover, they think of a third but decide against it, scores are levelled. Anna finishes things off with a sweep for a single.

Live cricket score: New Zealand Women 158/7 | Overs 42 | Target 164
Leigh Kasperek 14(27), Anna Peterson 20(16)
Rajeshwari tosses up, and Leigh drives her exquisitely through extra-cover, they’re closing in. Sneh replaces Jhulan. She tosses up one too high, and Anna cover-drives, lovely shot, four more! Anna goes down on one knee and slog-sweeps Sneh over deep mid-wicket, that is SIX! She follows it up with a delicate steer to the fence four another four, 14 off the over!

Live cricket score: New Zealand Women 140/7 | Overs 40 | Target 164
Leigh Kasperek 10(21), Anna Peterson 6(10)
Rajeshwari replaces Ekta. She is very, very slow through the air, tossing the ball up. Leigh and Anna run a sharp single. Anna steers one down to deep third-man, they run two, the target is getting closer. Jhulan bowls out with figures of 10-3-14-2. End of Powerplay.

Live cricket score: New Zealand Women 136/7 | Overs 38
Leigh Kasperek 6(5), Anna Peterson 4(4)
Powerplay begins. Leigh survives as Kalpana misses another stumping, this time off Jhulan! Ekta sends down another tight over, though she pitched the ball a bit too further than what she should have. Jhulan strikes, knocking Broadmore’s off-stump back, whaddabowler! Anna edges one, but it was too quick for Kalpana, and the ball races to the fence!
OUT! Kate Broadmore b Jhulan Goswami 1(7)!

Live cricket score: New Zealand Women 129/6 | Overs 35
Leigh Kasperek 6(5), Kate Broadmore 0(3)
New Zealand Women have lost Perkins, who drove it to Mithali at cover after getting set. Sophie and Leigh managed two boundaries off Harmanpreet’s over, the 34th of the innings. However, Ekta came back, and had Sophie stumped! Match on!
Katie Perkins c Mithali Raj b Ekta Bisht 30(44)!
Sophie Devine st Ravi Kalpana b Ekta Bisht 33(62)!

Live cricket score: New Zealand Women 113/4 | Overs 32
Katie Perkins 26(41), Sophie Devine 28(55)
Things seem to be going very well for the Kiwis and the Indians have helped their cause by dropping half chances in the past couple of overs or so. In the process the White Ferns have surpassed the 100-run mark and seem the favourites to win at this stage.

Live cricket score: New Zealand Women 99/4 | Overs 29
Katie Perkins 20(33), Sophie Devine 20(45)
Very good cricket by the ladies here. There’s a good buzz in the field with the fielders looking to prevent every run possible. Batsmen are ensuring that they keep the scoreboard ticking with some smart shots amid nervous moments. Difficult to pick a winner at this stage.

Live cricket score: New Zealand Women 84/4 | Overs 26
Katie Perkins 11(25), Sophie Devine 14(35)
These two are trying hard to build on the partnership and they surely need one if New Zealand are to win the match. The bowling has been quite impressive too; no signs of letting up. Fielding has been very tight as well. Match seems to be headed for an exciting finish.

Live cricket score: New Zealand Women 79/4 | Overs 23
Katie Perkins 9(17), Sophie Devine 12(25)
This match is poised quite beautifully, we may be headed for another low scoring thriller from the looks of it. The Indian spinners are doing a fine job to keep the Kiwi batsmen in a corridor of doubt.

Live cricket score: New Zealand Women 68/4 | Overs 19
Katie Perkins 1(3), Sophie Devine 10(21)
Run out! Just when New Zealand were rebuilding a direct throw from Mithali Raj has resulted in the dismissal of Amy Satterthwaite. That was some poor running from the batsmen. Sophie Devine will have to dig in deep in order to give New Zealand victory.
OUT! Amy Satterthwaite 23(55) run out Mithali Raj

Live cricket score: New Zealand Women 46/3 | Overs 12
Amy Satterthwaite 11(20), Sophie Devine 0(1)
NZ women seemed to have had the upper hand just the previous over, but Gayakwad changed all of that in just two balls. She got back to back wickets of Rachel Priest and Maddie Green in back to back deliveries.
OUT! Rachel Priest 21(28) c Mithali Raj b Gayakwad
OUT! Maddie Green 0(1) lbw Gayakwad

Live cricket score: New Zealand Women 34/1 | Overs 10
Amy Satterthwaite 11(28), Rachel Priest 12(20)
Given the conditions and the small target, the New Zealand women will be quite pleased with how they have performed in the first 10 overs. The Indian women will also be glad that they have gotten rid of Suzie Bates who batted quite well in the previous match. Match is still in the balance one would think.
OUT! Suzie Bates 1(12) b Goswami

Live cricket score: India Women 163 | Overs 49.3
Ekta Bisht 18(18)
The New Zealand women will be very happy with what they have achieved. However the Indian women will take heart from the fact that they defended a 20-run lesser total in the previous game. There was some good last minute hitting by Harman Kaur, she was well supported by Ekta Bisht who scored an unbeaten run-a-ball 18.
OUT! Sneh Rana 2(11) c Priest b Bates
OUT! Thirush Kamini 61(96) c Priest b Bates
OUT! Harmanpreet Kaur 31(49) c Bates b Devine
OUT! Ravi Kalpana 1(5) b Nielsen
OUT! Rajeshwari Gayakwad 2(6) run out

Live cricket score: India Women 118/5 | Overs 40
Poonam Raut 8(37), Thirush Kamini 59(86)
The New Zealand women will be very content with how the period of 10 overs between 30 – 40 have happened. Raut was dismissed for 8 runs. Thirush Kamini had to walk out with a cramped up thigh after scoring a calm 59. Shikha Pandey fell to the flight and turn of Kasperek. Importantly, India’s champion from last match Jhulan Goswami was dismissed for just one run by Lea Tahuhu.
OUT! Poonam Raut 8(38) lbw Tahuhu
OUT! Shikha Pandey 2(11) c Bates b Kasperek
OUT! Jhulan Goswami 1(7) lbw Tahuhu

Live cricket score: India Women 94/2 | Overs 30
Poonam Raut 8(37), Thirush Kamini 59(86)
The India women are just ticking it along, no major risks taken in that period of 10 overs. Despite having wickets in hand, they have scored on the slower side. Perhaps the pitch is difficult to bat on and they have sights set on a small but effective target.

Live cricket score: India Women 68/2 | Overs 20
Poonam Raut 1(4), Thirush Kamini 42(59)
The New Zealand women have made a couple of breakthroughs after the 10th over. S Mandhana fell for 12, while Mithali Raj was adjudged out lbw in the 20th over for 13. However replays showed the ball would have gone on to miss leg. The Kiwi bowlers will happy with the progress.
OUT! S Mandhana 12 (36) b Kasperek
OUT! Mithali Raj 13 (21) lbw S Bates

Live cricket score: India Women 29/0 | Overs 10
Smriti Mandhana 12(35), Thirush Kamini 17(25)
It has been slow going for India Women, but both openers have looked solid. Smriti and Thirush are both playing well and have got India off to an ideal start.
Live cricket score: India Women 4/0 | Overs 1
Smriti Mandhana 4(6), Thirush Kamini 0(0)
India are up and running. Tahulu starts proceedings for New Zealand, and Smriti starts with a boundary. Just four off the first over though. Solid start for India.

TOSS: India have won the toss and elected to bat first. Only one change in the match, as Thirush Kamini comes in for Veda Krishnamurthy for India, while New Zealand are unchanged.

Hello and welcome to CricketCountry’s coverage of the second ODI between India Women and New Zealand Women at Bangalore on Wednesday. Indian Women snatched victory from the jaws of defeat in the previous match as they defended a mere 142 in a low-scoring thriller. They won the match by 17 runs in the end. All-rounder Jhulan Goswami was the star for India, along with support from Ekta Bisht. READ: India Women clinch low scoring thriller against New ZealandWomen in 1st ODI at Bangalore
While opener Suzie Bates was handling the pressure quite well and rotating the strike every now and then, Rachel Priest failed to do so and fell for a 19-ball duck in the 6th over. Thereafter, wickets came by at regular intervals and New Zealand were kept under check.
Bates continued to bat sensibly even as Amy Satterthwaite and Kate Broadmore lost their wickets for small scores. Bates couldn’t go on for much longer however and fell for 28 runs to the spin of Rajeshwari Gayakwad. Wickets were in no short supply thereafter and the match was in the balance for pretty much the entire innings. READ: New Zealand Women will look to restrict India Women to less than 250, says Suzie Bates
After Bates, it was Sophie Devine who held the innings together with 24 runs before throwing her wicket away to Harmanpreet Kaur at a crucial stage. That wicket put India on top and further loss of wickets didn’t help the cause for the visitors. Leigh Kasperek, a debutant, held her nerve till the end but did not receive the support from the other end. The final wicket fell on 125 with her stranded on 21 not out, giving India an inspiring victory. READ: India Women aiming for performance over results against New Zealand Women, says Mithali Raj
