Those wishing to take admission to Delhi University still have hope left as many sought after courses still remain open for admission in top colleges in the third cut-off list, which was released on Friday night. Some colleges, however, have closed admissions.
While Hindu, Hansraj, IP College and Ramjas still remain open for admission in most courses, Daulat Ram, Dyal Singh, Miranda House and Sri Venkateswara have closed admissions to many of their Arts and Commerce courses.
However, four colleges under the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee — Guru Gobind Singh College of Commerce, SGTB Khalsa College, SGND Khalsa College and Mata Sundri College — have not released their third cut-off list.
In a circular sent to the principals of these colleges, the committee has written, “In view of the order passed by the Delhi High Court… in upholding the minority status of the colleges, certain benefits will be available to us…You are, thus, directed not to declare and hold on to the third list for three days…”
English and Economics (Hons) are still open for admissions in colleges like Daulat Ram, Hansraj and Hindu. At Hindu College, admissions are still open in all Arts and Commerce courses except Sociology (Hons). Similarly, in Hansraj all courses except Hindi (Hons) are still open for admission. BCom (Hons), although popular, still remains open in many colleges including Gargi, Hansraj, Hindu, IP College and Ramjas with the highest cut-off in Hindu at 97 per cent, a fall of 0.25 per cent from the last list.
In Lady Shri Ram College, BA Programme, Economics, English, Journalism and History are still open for admission. These now require 0.5 per cent marks less in their best-of-four aggregate as compared to the last list.
Most evening colleges, however, seem to have closed admissions to most courses with the exception of Dyal Singh Evening and Shyam Lal Evening.
For science students, colleges like Miranda House and Ramjas still remain open.
Cut-offs for admission into Computer Science (Hons) still remain high, with colleges such as College of Vocational Studies demanding a cut-off percentage of 92.5-97.5 per cent.
Courses like Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Botany and Zoology seem to be in demand and seats have filled up in many colleges. In Sanskrit, most colleges remain open for admission in the general category, with cut-offs as low as 45 per cent in Kalindi College. Some colleges like ARSD and Kalindi have reopened admission to English Hons with a cut-off of 94.5 per cent and 91 per cent respectively for general students.
