The Wikipedia page of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, the first PM of independent India, was on Wednesday vandalised to make malicious claims.
The very first paragraph of the article has been subject to unscrupulous alteration. It says 'Jawaharlal Nehru was the first Prime Minister of India and a central figure in Indian politics for much of the 20th century. HE WAS A MUSLIM AND PROOF OF IT IS AVAILABLE ON SEVERAL WEBSITES ON INTERNET. He eas (sic) basically a british.'

Following this, the Congress was quick to slam the Modi government. SpokespersonRandeep Surjewala claimed that the edits had been made through a government IP address and demanded an answer from PM Narendra Modi. He alleged that the Wikipedia entry of Congress leader and Nehru's father Motilal Nehru had also been altered.
However the identity of the person or persons who edited the Wikipedia entry forJawaharlal Nehru is yet unclear. More information is awaited in this regard.
