Mumbai university declares TYBCom results

After a delay of more than ten days, Mumbai university (MU) on Friday announced the results of the Third-year BCom (TYBCom- 75:25 pattern) final semester (semester six) exam, which ended on April 27 this year. There was a 5.83 percentage point drop in students clearing the examinations compared to 2014.
Out of the 63,725 students who gave the exams, 42,912 cleared it, recording a success rate of 67.34 % for the students. Around 250 students remained absent during the exams.
Last year, 63,757 students had attempted the exams, of which 46,839 students emerged successful, registering a pass percentage of 73.17%.
TYBCom is the largest degree exam that the university conducts, by number of candidates.
According to the Mumbai university exam department, 265 students secured O (outstanding) grade and 7,177 secured A grade, 11,494 secured B grade, while 15,353 students failed the exam.
Dinesh Bhonde, controller of examination, MU said, “This time, the result is better compared to semester five. However, there is a decline compared to last year. The result of around 600 students has been kept on hold as their internal marks have not been submitted by their colleges.”
The results were declared late on Friday evening on the Mumbai University’s website. The 45 day- limit, by which results have to declared, has already passed, but the university said that the delay was only by ten days.
On Friday, Academic council of MU, gave a nod to grant autonomy to Ramnarain Ruia College, Matunga, and KJ Somaiya College, Vidyavihar. Moreover the council announced commencement of two new courses from 2015-16. While Master of Social Work will commence at theRajiv Gandhi Centre for Contemporary Studies of the varsity, MSc in Bioinformatics will be offered by department of Biotechnology of the varsity.
