Jagathy's Surprise Rendezvous with Daughter at a Function

KOTTAYAM:  A public function attended by actor Jagathy Sreekumar, who is recuperating from a major road accident, became a venue of high drama, after the surprise entry of his daughter Sreelakshmi into the dais at Erattuppetta in Kottayam on Sunday. While the organisers’ attempts to dissuade her went in vain, the stage became a place for an emotional meeting of father and daughter.
It all happened at the function organised at the auditorium of St George College, Erattupetta, to felicitate top scorers in the SSLC and Plus-two examinations in the Poonjar Assembly constituency, at around 3 pm. Interestingly, the programme was organised by former Government Chief Whip and MLA P C George.
While George was delivering his address, Sreelakshmi ran to the dais, to everyone’s bewilderment, and embraced her father. The organisers and George tried to send her back. When she refused, George let her sit near her father. She spent nearly 10 minutes with the actor.
Later, Sreelakshmi responded that she was meeting her father after a gap of three years. “I am happy that my father recognised me. I spoke to him regarding my studies and he was also happy seeing me,” she said. Jagathy’s wife Shobha Sreekumar, daughter Parvathy, son-in-law and son of P C George, Shone George, were also present at the dais.
